Heal A Heart Campaign

The Heal A Heart Campaign is a fundraising project for the British Heart Foundation run by Rachael McInnes and Geraldine Wan. Rachael and Geraldine aim to earn £2000 for the BHF by March 2012. The profits from Rachael's upcoming EP, Gold Dust featuring some of her own piano compositions will be going towards the campaign. This blog will keep you up to date with upcoming events, CD & MP3 sales and allow you to follow Rachael and Geraldine as they embark on a journey to help others in memory of Rachael's older brother, Duncan. Merry Christmas!

This year has been tough for my family, and many families around the world. But, I have some news that (hopefully) you will find exciting!

WE DID IT!

We have officially hit £2000! In fact, we’ve gone over £2000! We’ve raised £2375 for the British Heart Foundation!

I would like to say a special thank you to the medlink company. Each year they hold conferences for 16/17 year olds looking at going into medicine, to help them decide if it is what they want to do, and if so, they help and guide them through it. They decided to support the Heal A Heart Campaign this year and invited me to come and say a few words (in front of over 1000 people I might add).

The donations from the students at the conference totaled £1825!

That is amazing!

We can safely say that without that money we would have struggled to hit our £2000 target by March, but we have now gone over, before March!

Thank you to everyone who supported us, all the donations online and off, everyone who spread the word, who bought Gold Dust, and who helped us reach £2000, and went on to help us reach £2375! That money is now going on to help people who are suffering, and to hopefully save the lives of people with heart problems.

Gold Dust is now for Sale!

I’ve spent a long time writing, recording and mastering, and finally I’ve released my first EP, Gold Dust!

It is for sale on iTunes and CD Baby, and 70% of the profits from every download will be going towards the Heal A Heart Campaign.

The EP features 3 of my original piano compositions. On iTunes each piece is 79p and the entire album is only £2.37. On CD Baby each piece is 99¢ and the entire album is only $2.95.

I will also be releasing physical copies of the album for those who prefer to hold something. I’ll update soon when that is sorted out, but I imagine it will be out by early to mid November.

So far we’ve raised an amazing £145, but we are still a long way away from £2000, and we need all the help and support we can get. So please buy it, if not the entire album, just one piece will help.

The Heal A Heart Campaign is taking off!

The campaign is finally starting to take off! I am recording the EP on Wednesday, and releasing it as soon as possible on CD Baby and iTunes.

We have also started to organize events and create webpages for the Heal A Heart Campaign.

And so it begins…

This song by Callie Moore is a huge inspiration to me. It was written in memory of Callie’s mother who died of breast cancer, and is dedicated to all those who are suffering. Throughout the month of October, Callie donated half the profits from the song to Breast Cancer Research. This inspired me to want to help people through music.

In February 2011 I lost my older brother due to a sudden heart attack, caused by an undiagnosed heart condition. Since then I have made it my mission to try and stop people having to go through the pain my family and I went through. I don’t want anyone to have to suffer the loss of a family member or friend. Through the Heal A Heart Campaign I not only want to raise £2000 for the British Heart Foundation, but I want to raise awareness of heart problems that are so easily overlooked.

In this blog I will be updating about my journey through the recording world, amateur and maybe even professional, filling you in on the EP release date and sales, and keeping track of the other activities I will be organizing within my school and community.

£2000 is a lot of money. But if we can save one life, one person, with friends and family, it’s worth it.
